“As for God, his way is perfect:
The LORD’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him.
For who is God besides the LORD?
And who is the Rock except our God?” –2 Samuel 22:31-32
Did you know that some of David’s psalms are included in the book of 2 Samuel? I’d never really thought about it before, but there are several there. It’s nice to read them in the context of his life. All of 2 Samuel 22 is a song of praise to God. David had been delivered from all of his enemies and was enjoying a rare time of peace. He used this time to thank and praise God for all He’d brought him through.
I was especially drawn to verses 31-32 because David seems to be affirming God’s authority and strength in his life. It’s easy to think about God being our rock and our refuge when we’re feeling weak. But David remembered his reliance on God at the time when he probably felt most in control. God truly deserves this recognition and praise!
His way is perfect; His Word flawless.
He is our shield and refuge.
The Lord is God.
He alone is our Rock.
Always!
Thank You, Lord. Amen.
